About Me

Counsellor in Southampton and Winchester

BACP Registered Counsellor in Hampshire

BACP registered counsellor in Southampton and Winchester

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).  As a registered member, I am bound by and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I work with adults and young people aged 18 and up and I offer in-person counselling from my studio in Winchester, as well as online sessions.

My areas of specialisation include anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.  Alongside my private practice, I work for a specialist counselling support service for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault, resulting in trauma.

I believe in a holistic approach to counselling, which involves addressing the underlying causes of emotional distress, as well as developing practical strategies for coping and healing. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings, gain insight into your experiences, and work towards achieving your personal goals.

Whether you require short-term support to address specific concerns or are seeking long-term therapy to delve deeper into underlying issues, I tailor my approach to suit your unique needs and goals. By fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship, we work together to help you develop coping strategies, enhance self-awareness, and facilitate personal growth.

Approaches and Techniques for Personal Growth

I use a variety of counselling approaches and it’s important to me that I provide you with the support that is right for you and that you feel heard.  At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach, meaning that our sessions are led by you and that I will support you in realising your full potential.

Amongst the approaches I use is Transactional Analysis; an approach which helps you explore your relationships with others, yourself and how you see the world around you.  It can help you to make sense of your previous life experiences, as well as what you are going through now.   I also draw upon other counselling techniques such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy, which can help you  cope when you feel stressed, anxious or depressed.

Importantly,  I’ll support you in developing your own solutions to your difficulties and help you get a better understanding of who you are and how you would like to live your life.

Compassionate Support for Trauma and Abuse

Alongside my private practice, I work for a specialist counselling support service for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault, resulting in trauma.

I have also worked with a charity offering free counselling to young people.
