Welcome to Caroline Henshaw Counselling
We seek counselling for many different reasons and we all have our own unique story to tell. You may be here because you have experienced difficult, upsetting or traumatic life events. Whatever the reason, some experiences can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, guilty, ashamed, sad, confused, angry or low in self-esteem.
Or perhaps you feel low and out of sorts and you don’t quite know why. Sometimes, it can be really difficult to navigate life’s obstacles on your own.
I’m an experienced counsellor offering in-person and online counselling to adults and young people aged 18+. My counselling studio is based in Winchester and my clients come from Winchester, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Southampton, Chandlers Ford and the surrounding areas.
Whatever you’re going through, I will provide you with a safe and supportive space to help you explore your thoughts and feelings. During our sessions, we’ll work together to get a better understanding of the issues that you’re facing so you can develop your own solutions to help you overcome your difficulties. Through our conversations, I’ll help you gain insight into how you relate to others, your patterns of behaviour and how you see yourself in the world.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange a free 30 minute introductory session.

Helpful Information
I provide counselling services for adults and young people aged 18 and over who are facing challenges including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, workplace issues, trauma, and grief.
Your first session is a chance for you to share what has led you to seek counselling and what you hope to achieve through our time together. If this is your first time sharing your challenges with someone, I want to ensure you feel at ease and fully understand how counselling can be beneficial for you. During our initial meeting, we’ll discuss:
Your reasons for seeking counselling
Your personal background
Your expectations for our sessions
Our mutual agreement on how we will work together
This is an opportunity to determine if we are a good match. There’s no obligation to continue with regular sessions after this meeting. If either of us feels that we aren’t the right fit, I will do my best to support you to find another counsellor. The cost for this first session is £55, and it lasts for 50 minutes.
Only you can decide whether counselling is the right choice for you. However, if you are facing challenges in managing daily life, seeking professional help can make a difference. Being able to share your worries with someone outside your circle of friends and family can significantly impact your well-being. Counselling offers a dedicated space for you to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and discuss any issues you may be facing. A counsellor help you identify patterns of behaviour that may have become stuck and find more effective coping strategies.
It’s natural to feel apprehensive about counselling. Many people find that the initial step of seeking support is the hardest, but taking the decision to have counselling can be one of the most helpful steps we ever take in life. It’s important that you find the right counsellor and so I offer a free 30 minute introductory session – either in person, online or by phone.
My practice is based in a peaceful studio in Winchester, overlooking the South Downs. I offer in-person sessions from my studio as well as online sessions for clients who prefer or require remote support. My clients come from Winchester and the surrounding areas including Southampton, Eastleigh, Alresford, Shawford, Twyford, Kings Worthy and Easton.

Why do I often feel like other people are better than me?
Do you often find yourself in situations where you feel that you’re not good enough, even in your most intimate relationships? It may be that you’re acting out your beliefs, or an unconscious pattern, that you formed as a very young child.

Getting stuck in the anxiety loop
It’s easy to get caught in an anxiety loop and the longer we’re stuck, the more our anxiety spirals, leading to tension and stress.

Are we responsible for the happiness of other people?
Do you often worry about how other people feel – as though you’re responsible for their happiness? Of course, we often choose to do things for other people – to be generous with our time and our love – and we get satisfaction and pleasure from giving. But what happens
